2005 Peyton's Pals Off To Great Start

April 12, 2005

The second year of the Peyton's Pals program implemented the PeyBack Foundation began last month with a special trip to Jillian's restaurant in downtown Indianapolis for an evening of bowling, food, games and visit from Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

The PeyBack Foundation worked with Child Advocates in Indianapolis to select 20 children, ages 11-14, to participate in the year-round program. The children will be involved in one event a month. The purpose of the program is to provide monthly outings and activities to benefit at-risk children chosen from the client population of Child Advocates.

Manning spoke with the group at Jillian's about the program and what was on schedule for the year. Trips include a day trip to a Cincinnati Reds game in May, a community project with Joy's House, a night at the Murat Theatre and an overnight trip to Florida in June.

The 2005 group had a special event this past Sunday with lunch at Smokey Bones restaurant in downtown Indianapolis and a trip to Conseco Fieldhouse to watch the Indiana Pacers play the New York Knicks.

Following 12 months of events, Manning and his Foundation will hold a graduation event for the group. Manning has been involved with Child Advocates since his arrival in Indianapolis in 1998. It started with a flag football game at the Colts practice facility that is entering its seventh year with the upcoming game in June.
